My ceramic glass cooktop is stained and hard to clean

IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and the oven and cooktop are cool. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products. Soap, water and a soft cloth or sponge are suggested first unless otherwise noted.

IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the cooktop, do not use steel wool, abrasive powder cleansers, chlorine bleach, rust remover or ammonia.

Light to moderate soil:

Clean with paper towels or clean, damp sponge.

Sugary spills (jellies, candy, syrup):

  • Use a cooktop scraper.
  • Clean while the cooktop is still warm.
  • You may want to wear oven mitts while cleaning the cooktop.
  • Rub cooktop polishing cream into surface with a damp paper towel or soft cloth.
  • Continue rubbing until white film disappears.

Heavy soil, dark streaks, specks and discoloration:

  • Use a cooktop polishing cream or a nonabrasive cleanser.
  • Rub product into soil with a damp paper towel or soft cloth.
  • Continue rubbing until white film disappears.

Burned-on soil:

  • Use a cooktop cleaner and cooktop scraper.
  • Rub cooktop polishing cream into surface with a damp paper towel or soft cloth.
  • Hold scraper as flat as possible on surface and scrape.
  • Repeat for stubborn spots.
  • Polish entire cooktop with cream and paper towel.
My electric range is not working

Make sure that the power cord is plugged in.

Make sure that the breakers are turned on and household fuses are okay.

Make sure controls are set correctly. Was the Start keypad pressed? Was the oven set on Delay Cook?

Make sure the controls are set correctly. Is the Cooktop lockout feature set?

Self-cleaning issues

IMPORTANT: The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the fumes given off during the Self-Cleaning cycle. Exposure to the fumes may result in death of certain birds. Always move birds to another closed and well-ventilated room.

Do not touch the oven during self-clean cycle.

Keep children away from the oven during self-clean cycle.

My gas cooktop doesn’t work on my range

Is the oven working, but the cooktop is not?

Did you experience a power failure or was the range recently unplugged? Your cooktop may have a cooktop lockout feature.

Are the cooktop burners clicking when knobs are turned off?

If all burners are turned to off, you may have moisture in the switches from cleaning or a spill. Allow time for the moisture to dry. You can speed up the drying time by removing the knobs and blowing cool air onto the knob shaft.

Is gas coming out of the burners when turned on, but burners will not light?

Are the burner knobs turned to the Ignite position? The igniter will only spark to ignite the gas when the knob is aligned to the Ignite position. You may have moisture in the burner ports from cleaning or a spill. Either allow to dry or clean according to Use and Care Guide instructions.

Cleaning cooktop grates

IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and the oven and cooktop are cool. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products.

Do not use coarse steel wool.

To avoid chipping, use special care to not bang grates and caps against each other or hard surfaces such as cast-iron cookware.

Do not reassemble caps on burners while wet.

Do not clean in the Self-Cleaning cycle.

Cleaning and caring for stainless steel surfaces

Wash surfaces with warm, soapy water using liquid detergent or an all-purpose cleaner and a nonabrasive sponge. Always rub evenly in the direction of the grain.

Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Use a clean, dry towel to polish the surface in the direction of the grain until it shines.

IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the finish, do not use soap-filled scouring pads, abrasive or harsh cleaners, any cleaning product containing chlorine bleach, steel-wool pads, gritty wash cloths or certain paper towels.

Testimonials

“…we purchased our Thermadore double ovens in 2001…2006 we lost the main printed circuit board. This happened 1 month after the oven went off the 5 year warranty. Yale electric stepped up to the plate, contacted the manufacturer, and made sure we were not charged for the part.”
